The education reform, as a given framework for the future scientific contemplation of the Islamic religious education, is being viewed as both a challenge and a possibility. The Islamic religious education in schools is now faced with a possibility to, as an element of the educational system, become closer to the standards of the modem world. The challenge is multiple: to question the way we rely on our Foundation and thus revive "the reading" of our traditional spiritual and intellectual background. Thus the religious education does not only join the modem, but it acquires comparatively superior references within the school educational system. This article gives indication of some of these newly acquired possibilities of this school subject.

ANNAMARIE SCHIMMEL (1922-2003)

This text gives a review of the most important facts relating to the life of Annemarie Schimmell and includes her most significant works. The author placed an emphasis on her role in promoting Islamic studies in Europe and in the West and particularly on the role she had in the translations of the great works of Islam into the Western languages. The author calls her a diva of Islamic - oriental studies in Europe and believes her to be perhaps the greatest woman authority on Islam in the West. Her death in 2003 meant a great loss for Islamic studies in Europe and particularly in Germany.

Historija muslimana Šri Lanke seže do prvog stoljeća islama. Premda nema specifičnih, autentičnih podataka o njihovim obrazovnim pokazateljima, ipak ima dovoljno podataka koji sugeriraju da su bili vrlo utjecajni i važni sudionici u političkim i ekonomskim pitanjima u Šri Lanki sve do dolaska Portugalaca početkom 16. stoljeća, tačnije 1505. godine. Pred sami dolazak Portugalaca vlada Šri Lanke imala je jedanaest članova, njih sedam bili su muslimani. S dolaskom Portugalaca situacija se za muslimane znatno promijenila.

KRITIČKI POGLED NA MUSLIMANSKE MODERNISTE I TRADICIONALNE “REFORMISTE”

Mi smo već ranije rekli da je progresivsvno slabljenje muslimanskih naroda uzrokovano internim elementimsma, čije se klice mogu razaznavati u ranom periodu islama; a kasnije smo, u vezi sa tim uzrocima slabljenja, istakli da su oni vodili u stanje u kome se gubio edeb (odgoj, pravda u Attasovom mišljenju - op. prev.). Glavni, karakteristični simptom gubitka edeba u Ummetu jeste proces nivelacije (levelling) koji je s vremena na vrijeme kultiviran u muslimanskom umu i prakticiran u muslimanskom društvu. Pod “nivelacijom” ja podrazumijevam jednako postavljanje svega, u umu i u držanju ili stavu, na isti nivo na kome se nalazi taj koji vrši ovu nivelaciju. Ovaj mentalni proces u zauzimanju stavova, koji se odražava u činu, podstiče pojavu pogrešnih lidera koji žele da razore legitimni autoritet i validnu hijerarhiju kako bi oni i njihovi epigoni mogli da rastu; oni su primjer izjednačavanja velikana i onoga koji nema toga svojstva, a poslije njih se proces nivelacije nastavlja ka onim sve manjim i manjim.

The noun sentence begins with the noun while the verb sentence begins with the verb. Both types of sentences consist of two main parts: subject and predicate, which are followed by their component parts. The subject of the noun sentence in Arabic language is called al-mubtedeu while the predicate is called al-haberu. The subject of the verb sentence is called al-fai’lu and the predicate - the verb itself - is called al-fi’lu. The sentence in Arabic language has the full meaning only if the main components of the sentence are included. It is, however, possible to omit one of those parts if the meaning is understood out of the context of the complete sentence. However, certain situations impose the need to include certain parts even when they can be omitted. This is known as the stylistic necessity (daruretun belagije).

The dilemmas on the translations of the Qur’an appear even in the first centuries of Islam, since the Qur’an was revealed “in clear Arabic language”. However, Islamic scholars, aware that the distinctive style of the Qur’an cannot be preserved in the translation, permitted the translation. However, they emphasized that even Mohammed a.s. allowed to have Torah read to him in Arabic and that he himself wrote to the rulers inviting them to Islam. Their main argument was an eminent Mess senger’s ashab, Salman of Persia, who translated surah Al-Fatihah into Persian. Abu Hanife even allowed for the salaat to be performed by using the translation of the surah. His disciples accepted this under condition that a man cannot learn it in Arabic.

LAHKO I USPJEŠNO UČITI O ISLAMU

Effortless and successful learning about Islam requires the need to have this religion, quite instinctive and natural to a man, indeed be presented as such. First of all, the substance of Islam is to be presented in a simple and understandable method. This is then to be made accessible to all, since Islam is not a privilege of a small and selected group. In the process of teaching Islam, one is not to favor those who are more talented. In fact, every student needs to be given particular attention bearing in mind that there will be those who will have easier and faster understanding of the matter being taught. On the other hand, there will be those who will require more time and effort. It is very important to master a reading technique and memorizing, which include: slow reading, reading with understanding (in other words reflecting on what has been read, understanding the substance and finally the memorizing itself).

We meet our friends, relatives and acquaintances more or less every day. We often visit them and communicate with them. However, we must always abide by the rules of a proper Islamic behavior. Those are as follows: - We are required to respect the dignity of each person which means we cannot enter the person’s intimate world without the permission. In other words, we cannot enter the person’s home or some other place of residence without their expressed permission. In fact, we are required to request the permission (isti’zan) each time we wish to join a certain company or enter somebody’s home.

The prominent mufassir Zamahseri, also allowed the translation of the Qur'an, since all revelations came in different languages. This made the translation of the Qur'an into different languages legitimate as well.

He was also a literary, out of whose love for the young ones grew children's prose. Hence, Hamdija Mulic is iightfully considered one of the first Muslim children's writer. He participated in all of the more significant events dealing with school reform and the enlightenment of the Muslim population. He was a cont1ibutor to a great number of magazines of that time, and has produced several of his own publications. He wrote critiques, short stories, sketches, articles, anecdotes... The complete life and the entire works of Hamdija Mulic are interwoven with the pedagogical theme which pervades his theoretical and practical works.

JEDAN VJEROVJESNIK JE BOLJI OD SVIH EVLIJA

The classical akaid literature dealt with the issue of comparison between the God's messengers and saints - God's friends in terms of honors showed. Abu Hanifa claims that each individual messenger is better than all saints. The prevailing opinion is that they cannot achieve a level of God's messengers, nor are they free from religious obligations. No saint can be superior to messenger since they are intermediaries between God and his creatures and they also have privilege of being able to see the angels. God's messengers are free from sin and safe from punishment and saints must be concerned about their end.
