Entrepreneurial Competences of the Modern Teacher

Education system and the teacher are ascribed a vital role in the knowledge society. Learning and education outcomes greatly depend on the teacher’s qualifications, motivation and personality features. In accordance with the idea of making academic studies more practical, teachers’ entrepreneurial competences gain more and more significance. The role of the teacher in market economy is frequently associated with the organisation of educational process (learning), becoming a natural leader and developer of an attractive educational offer. The paper discusses physical education teachers’ managerial competences. In order to evaluate the level of these competences, surveys were conducted among physical education graduate students majoring in PE teaching. The analysis encompassed several skills recognized as characteristic for entrepreneurial competences of university graduates. It was stipulated that the level of managerial competences acquired in the course of studies deviates considerably from the expected one.

Development of the internationalization “abroad” in Polish and Ukrainian higher education

The scientific goal of the paper is to present the issue of the development of internationalization “abroad” in Polish and Ukrainian higher education. The leading research method is a comparative method, specifically the method of international comparison. The authors focus on the national and institutional level comparison of the development of internationalization "abroad" in Polish and Ukrainian higher education systems. In addition to the comparative method, the authors applied the method of secondary research (desk research), the method of description and analysis and critique of the scientific literature. By using the source materials and indicated numerical data, it is possible to verify the thesis.The process of reasoning in the article was conducted in the following stages. First, the definition of internalization in higher education was given with respect to Polish and Ukrainian approach. Next, the stages in the development of internationalization “abroad” in Polish and Ukrainian higher education were featured. Afterwards, the development process of internationalization was presented on the background of processes occurring in the European Higher Education Area. The paper ends with conclusions.The conclusions drawn in the paper allowed to verify the thesis. In both countries, Poland and Ukraine, the diversity of activities in frame of internationalization "abroad” occur. Among these activities mobility of students and academic teachers remain the most visible in Poland as well as in Ukraine. The development of internationalization "abroad" in relation to mobility of projects, programmes and providers seems to be more advanced in Poland.

The European Union supports through active policies the creative-innovative processes, as illustrated by the Cohesion Policy Program for 2007-2013 and by the “Horizon 2020” Program for Research and Innovation. The present paper presents, from an organizational perspective, relevant aspects related to the question of innovation and innovation management, while pointing out the most important internal and external factors that favor the introduction of innovation into the sphere of processes that are run by organizations, as well as into the sphere of products and services provided by organizations. At the same time, the paper briefly presents the essential attributes of organizations which obtain competitive sustainable advantages the rough innovation.

Managers’ Power and Its Sources in Managing People in Multicultural Teams: The Results of Interviews with Czech, Portuguese, and French Managers

The aims of the article are to describe how Czech, Portuguese, and French managers define the concept of “power,” to identify the sources of power they use, and to demonstrate the impact of their power on managing their culturally diverse teams. The research problem focuses on finding the answers to the questions: How do Czech, Portuguese, and French managers understand the term “power”? What sources of power and ways of exercising it do they use in practice? What areas of people management are affected by managers’ power? The research methods consist of a literature review and individual in-depth interviews with managers conducted in 2022. The theoretical part defines the term “power,” and describes the sources of managers’ power and their ways of exercising it. The research part reports the results of the interviews with the managers. The study demonstrates the importance of managers’ power and its impact on people management in multicultural workplaces. The results of the interviews reveal that the managers accurately define the term “power” and frequently use its most common sources: legitimate and reward power. According to the managers, in workplaces with culturally diverse employees their power exerts a significant impact on people management.

Naruszenie prawa przez pracodawcę przy uzgadnianiu zasad kontroli trzeźwości z działającymi u niego związkami zawodowymi

This article critically assesses the regulation, which entered into force on February 21, 2023, with regards to the procedure for establishing preventive sobriety control for employers with trade unions. The new solutions, on one hand, grant the employer the right to control the sobriety of employees if it is necessary to ensure the protection of employees or other persons’life and health or the protection of property, on the other hand it entangles the employer into an imperfect model of coordinating the rules of this control in the labour regulations. In practice, trade unions have the opportunity to block the introduction of intra-company sobriety control regulations, and at the later stage, to change them. Taking into account the purpose of this control the Author points out arguments in support of the thesis that is permissible to amend the working regulations against the will of the trade union party, which obstructionism prevents the introduction or modification of the already existing system of employee sobriety control.

Workers working outside the employment relationship do not enjoy full statutory protection of their work. The law protects them only in selected areas (e.g. minimum hourly rate). Moreover, civil law contracts as a legal basis of employment, are often abused. Collective bargaining can play an important role in protecting workers. It can limit employment outside the employment relationship as well as guarantee certain working and pay conditions. For factual and legal reasons, the potential of collective bargaining is not used. In order to improve the situation, greater activity of social partners is needed, but also a reconstruction of the legal framework for the social dialogue.

Wpływ zasady równości szans kobiet i mężczyzn na postrzeganie roli kobiety w zarządzaniu

The aim of this article was to show the impact of the principle of equal opportunities for women and men on the perception of the role of women in management. Investigating the impact on the development of a gender equality situation shaped the scope of the subject matter of the qualitative and quantitative analysis carried out from the perspective of equalization of opportunities for women and men in the management environment. Another aim of the article was to ascertain whether there occurs a dynamic equalization of barriers between men and women over time. The analysis of the material collected allowed for some conclusions and their interpretation gave rise to some assumptions about the future development of the phenomenon. As a result, it was concluded that social and legal education of women is a key demand, and that all actions stemming from the principle of equal opportunities for women and men, combined with social sensitivity in the broadest sense, can contribute to minimizing inequality in the future.

This paper delves into the “Leader is Servant” metaphor within the realm of IT leadership, examining how embodying the role of a servant can redefine and enhance leadership effectiveness. Utilizing conceptual metaphor theory as a foundational framework, we explore how envisioning leadership as servitude - viewing the leader as a facilitator, the team as a community, and success as shared service - can cultivate a more inclusive, empathetic, and responsive organizational culture. Drawing from diverse instances in the IT sector, we scrutinize the potential advantages of this metaphor, such as fostering a collaborative environment, boosting morale, and encouraging ethical and sustainable decision-making. Additionally, we consider the metaphor’s limitations and pitfalls, including the risks of diminished authority, perceived passivity, and potential exploitation. The paper proposes that the “Leader is Servant” metaphor provides a compelling, altruistic paradigm for rethinking leadership dynamics, particularly in the rapidly evolving field of technology. Future research might investigate how this metaphor intersects with various leadership styles across different industries or how it can be integrated with other metaphorical conceptions of leadership to enhance organizational and individual performance.

FORMS OF RESISTANCE TO CHANGE: ORGANIZATIONAL CYNICISM (INTRODUCTORY NOTES, SYNTHESIS AND RESEARCH DEVELOPMENTS)

One of the recurrent forms of resistance to institutional changes is organizational cynicism, characterized by negative evaluations and mistrust towards certain people, groups or the institution as a whole. Considered as the reverse of "perceived organizational support", organizational cynicism is rooted in various negative experiences of employees in implementating organizational change. Thus, identifying the level of organizational cynicism is essential in order to understand the resistance that employees show in the context of planned changes within the institution. Through this article, we intend to present some theoretical syntheses regarding the phenomenon of organizational cynicism (definitions, factors and methods of investigation), with specific details regarding the manifestation of cynicism in educational institutions.

The purpose of the article is to carry out a comprehensive analysis of socio-psychological factors of information activity and to find out their influence on managerial decision-making. The methodological basis of the study is general scientific and special methods for studying the problem, in particular, analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, generalization and abstraction, survey-analytical and classification methods, as well as description and comparison, which help to achieve the goal. The set of the methods made it possible to determine the role of socio-psychological factors of information activity, attitudes and stereotypes in the preparation and implementation of effective management decisions. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the generalization of the main approaches to the problem of ensuring effective managerial activity, adequate perception of information and making informed decisions in the informational sphere. The authors have stated that effective management activity should be based on the awareness of real socio-psychological phenomena that accompany the economic, political and spiritual-ideological processes of social development, on taking into account the ratio of the management efforts of the authorities and the internal trends of the development of society, on knowledge of the psychological features of individual and group behaviour, psychological foundations of managerial communication and the implementation of managerial influence.

Knowing how to dispute constructively is vital in many areas of life, the law, society, economics, and business. We study the evolution of disputes by examining the Academies of Hillel and Shammai, two early Jewish schools of thought dominant in the latter half of the first century BCE. The disagreements and disputations between the two academies became quite intense and may even have resulted in physical clashes to control voting on the law; the Shammaites thus threatened and restricted the voting of the Hillelites. It took a heavenly voice to declare that the law agrees with the School of Hillel. Interestingly, the voice also explained why the law follows the Hillel viewpoint: arguments are all well and good, but one must respect one’s opponent. Their interactions over time have created a blueprint for constructive argumentation, even in our times.

MANAGING INTERNATIONALIZATION AT HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS: ASSIGNED DRIVERS AND PERCEIVED IMPORTANCE

The internationalization of higher education has become a central focus in contemporary higher education policies, where various demands, motives, and meanings are attributed to higher education institutions and management in the global and international environment. The complex relationship between globalization and internationalization is briefly explored in the article, as well as motives and drivers for the internationalization of higher education at both national and institutional levels, with university management considering it a strategic priority. Through semi-structured interviews with representatives of Slovene higher education stakeholders, it was found that university management emphasizes the significance of internationalization as a strategic priority and as part of the university’s daily activities, highlighting its integration into research, education, various networks, projects, etc. The article underscores that internationalization serves as a means and driver for changes, raising quality, improvements, employability, and innovations in higher education, fostering a knowledge-based society, and addressing the challenges of the globalized world, which were highlighted by the respondents. In the final part of the article, suggestions for improvements and further research activities are presented.

Unifying the concept of social, economic and ecological development, the new development paradigm was established under the name of sustainable development. Sustainable development should harmonize sensible consumption of natural resources with their protection and ensure a more equitable division of wealth and equal economic development at the global level. Within such a context, science and environmental education constitute the precondition for our joint future. As regards the contents, this paper provides a precise and comprehensive overview of theoretical features of environmental pollution and sustainable development, as well as the most important aspects of environmental and natural resource management. For effective control of environmental pollution to be possible, it is necessary to consider the ethical foundations of environmental economics in particular, and special attention is paid to in the paper. A significant part of this work is devoted to criticism of uncontrolled economic growth and the inefficiency of the state in controlling environmental pollution. Knowledge management for the purpose of sustainable development and development of international regulations on the environment are also included.

The crime Self-government is prescribed in Art. 330 of the CC RS, according to which a criminal offense is committed by a person who independently acquires a right or a right that he believes belongs to him. A criminal act also exists in cases of obtaining rights for another. It is noticeable that the act of committing a criminal offense consists in self-acquiring rights. The object of self-acquiring rights can be a right that belongs to the perpetrator or that he considers to belong to him. The existence of a criminal offense requires the intent of the perpetrator to acquire his or an assumed right on his own. This means that the key thing in proving this criminal offense is the self-acquiring of the perpetrator’s rights and his awareness that he is self-appropriating his or an assumed right. According to the provisions of the Law on Higher Education of the RS (Article 64, Paragraph 1), the management bodies at the university are the rector of the university and the deans of the faculties. In performing these functions, they have various powers and rights that belong to them under the conditions provided by law. The paper discusses cases in which there are signs of the criminal offense of Self-government in the actions of the governing body. Based on the critical analysis, conclusions were drawn and implications were given that should contribute to a more efficient and legal work of the governing body at the university.
