The article discusses the problem of voivodeship real estate management and its economic effects. The theoretical considerations refer to the essence of real estate economy and management and importance of public real estate in voivodeship property creation. In the empirical part forms and economic effects of real estate management were shown. The analysis was carried on the example of West Pomeranian Voivodeship in the years 2006-2011, using local government and Central Statistical Office data.

The cooperative movement, which developed in the Polish lands before the regaining of the independence, owes resilience to Franciszek Stefczyk. Thanks to his efforts and activities this movement in spite of many, especially financial difficulties, developed also in independent Poland. The article presents achievements of Stefczyk and the activities of the Cooperative Research Institute. This institute was founded thanks to his efforts and it contributed to the development of cooperative thoughts during the interwar period.

The main aim is to identify and analyze the determinants in the creation of companies such as spin-offs. An attempt has been made to define prospects and barriers to the development of spin-off companies. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the problem it can be perceived in various ways. The publication is of an analytical-conceptual character and can constitute a contribution to the discussion on the issues and as the starting point for empirical research.

Determinanty efektywności technicznej produkcji żywca wołowego w Europie i na świecie w roku 2011

The article examines the level of technical efficiency of beef production in 25 countries of Europe, America, Asia, Australia and Africa. We compared different technologies of production in the two groups of households: livestock farms for further breeding and livestock farms for slaughter. Technical efficiency was calculated by using the methods of frontier estimation. As determinants of the effectiveness model variables are assumed, the combination of which reflect the specificities of the technology. In both analyzed groups, it was found that maintenance costs of machinery and equipment and veterinary costs had the greatest influence. In addition, in a group of farms producing animals for slaughter labor costs and the amount of sales were also important. In both cases, there were significant differences between the parametric and nonparametric models.

Ocena zasadności budowy elektrowni systemowych wykorzystujących nowe złoża węgla brunatnego

The article attempts to assess the validity of the construction of power plants using new lignite deposits located in Legnica and Gubin. Own mathematical model for longterm development of the domestic energy sector has been used. The results of the EcoSenseWeb V 1.3 model used to estimate the external costs caused by the planned plants are also presented. They show a large scale of adverse effects caused by burning coal in these power plants. However, the results of the modelling approach prove that lignite shall retain its dominant position in the structure of electricity generation in Poland.

This paper identifies the main factors influencing the competitiveness of automotive sector enterprises in Poland and in Europe. An analysis concerns competitiveness conditioning connected with economic entities localization. The survey shows that automotive sector enterprises competitiveness depends upon their organization, employees competence, elasticity, competitive prices, forward delivery, quality and lower costs. There are also threats that automotive sector can be exposed to growing employment costs, lack of management staff, low level of elasticity regarding work legislation, difficulties in making quick decisions if a center is localized abroad, low level of both investment encouragements as well as country engagement in new investment process.

The linear programming method plays an important role in an optimal decisions making. It can be used, inter alia in the process of production planning and when planning optimal level of employment. The models of linear programming can be used in agricultural farm management and in its operation planning. The aim of this article is the assessment of possibility of the use of the linear programming method in order to assess optimal outlay of production factors which maximizes its values in the groups of farms of some chosen agricultural types. The data for the years 2004-2008 were chosen, for the groups of farms of the Pomerania and Masuria region, specializing in field crops, gardening crops, and sustained crops and those which deal simultaneously with different kinds of crops.

Efekty skali w funkcjonowaniu jednostek samorządu terytorialnego na przykładzie gmin województwa zachodniopomorskiego

The issue of the optimal size of local government is an important area of research. A comparative analysis with other countries in the European Union does not equivocally resolve the major advantages of small municipalities. In the paper the model of P. Swiniewicz and M. Herbst synthetic indicator based on the efficiency of subdivision is used. Three main factors were distinguished in it: economic potential, ability to perform public services and local democracy. As a result of the calculations interesting results in the optimalization of the size of local government units were obtained, depending on the selected profile. It can be concluded that the optimal size of the community is in the range 22 500 – 30 000 inhabitants.

The paper presents the elements of the competitiveness of the agri-food business. It characterizes different categories of competitive potential. First in the article there is a division on material and immaterial potential. Then it describes instruments which help to achieve the competitive advantage in agribusiness industry and maintain the competitive position of the measured market share or financial situation of a company. The paper shows the ways to strengthen the competitive advantage of food producers. These include first and foremost the formation of quality and safety of products, as well as the adjustment of proenvironmental actions and product range to ever increasing demands of consumers.

Użytki rolne a rozwój pozarolniczej działalności gospodarczej w Polsce

The paper presents research outcomes of the studies on relationships between the change of arable land area and entrepreneurship development in Poland over the period 2003- -2010. The aim of this research is to prove that arable land resources are still a significant production factor, not only in agriculture, but also in non-agricultural sectors of Polish economy. The reason of this research was the observation that successive increase of the number of private enterprises was strictly related to the permanent decrease of arable land area. Therefore the author made an effort to confirm statistical significance of the above relationships. For this purpose the methods of descriptive, comparative and simple regression analysis were used. The data of Central Statistical Office were the empirical material.

Trade unions in Poland are the basic form of representation of employee interests. Apart from the trade unions, there are many other forms of representation of employees in an enterprise. First of all, one can mention employees councils, representations in cases of work health and safety, employee representatives on supervisory boards or representatives appointed ad hoc to resolve specific issues together with employers. Furthermore, employees have the right to participate in representative forms of participation also in the Community-scale enterprises. The main objective of this paper is to present the non-trade union forms of employee representation found in the Polish industrial relation system and to determine relations between these forms and trade unions.

Wybrane czynniki kapitału regionalnego determinujące rozwój firm z sektora włókienniczo-odzieżowego z województwa łódzkiego

Due to the fact that the textile and clothing sector is one of smart specializations of Łódź Voivodeship, it is necessary to continuously supervise and modify those factors of the regional capital that determine the functioning of the companies in this sector in order to create the appropriate conditions for their innovative development. In further perspective it influences the innovative development of Łodź Voivodeship and strengthen its position both on the national and international arena. The aim of the article is to show, on an example of survey results, priority factors of the regional capital for companies from the textile and clothing sector and external support which is preferred by entrepreneurs. Next the paper identifies the mechanisms that require modification in order to enhance key, according to entrepreneurs, factors of the regional capital.

Zróżnicowanie rozwoju powiatów województwa zachodniopomorskiego

This paper attempts to assess the economic and social potential of local government units at the second level of Polish administrative division called poviat. On the basis of the variables tested, no conditional convergence was found between the poviats of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Diversification of Polish regions is characterized by high persistence as each of their socio–economic characteristics reinforces the other ones. The range of possible directions of development depends strictly on the present authorities of poviats and regions. Being aware of the potential is important not only for poviats themselves but also for all cooperating institutions.

Maritime tourism is considered as one of fast developing segments of the tourist market in recent years. The development of maritime tourism is determined by a variety of factors, but the legislative considerations are the most important. The lawmaking lies within the competence of the bodies of the European Union and Polish parliament. The purpose of the article is the analysis of the activities taken by the Polish government and the institutions of the European Union in terms of the space management and development of the coastal regions and the assessment of the impact of these activities on the development of marine tourism in Poland. The research was conducted using a method of critical analysis, a comparative analysis and literature research of the available Polish and foreign literature, and also law regulations and reports.

This is a particularly attractive way of functioning and earning during the economic downturn. The article presents the most important rules and concepts of self-employment in Poland, the advantages and disadvantages of this form of employment, as well as the status and dynamics. The statistical data allowed for the analysis of the phenomenon and checking how developed a number of self-employed during the economic slowdown.

Sytuacja ekonomiczna przetwórstwa spożywczego w Polsce w okresie członkostwa w UE – stan i perspektywy

Polish food industry is growing fast, it shows high resistance to the phenomenon of the crisis, and its economic and financial situation is good. Such a situation can be explained by rising export and high demand on the internal market. International competitiveness of Polish food producers is high thanks to domestic and foreign funds. Polish producers are competing on the market with price and quality, more rarely with innovative products. Probably Polish food industry will be able to benefit from the EU aid funds for the last time in the period 2014-2020. The aim of this paper is a brief presentation of the most important processes and structural changes that have taken place in the Polish food industry in terms of production, investment and foreign trade as well as the analysis of the role played by public funds in these transformations and the presentation of the sector development directions.
