Współpraca przedsiębiorstw przemysłowych z innymi uczestnikami rynku w zakresie działalności innowacyjnej

Cooperation of the market is seen as a desirable phenomenon in modern economy. The article shows the activity in cooperation between industrial enterprises and others in the field of innovation in the period of 2005-2011. It has been observed that large companies are the most active in cooperation with other market participants. Regions where the cooperation is the most common are Podkarpackie and Silesian Voivodeships, and the least active are Lubuskie and West Pomeranian. The coopertaion is undertaken mainly between suppliers, other enterprises and consumers. The proximity of universities, industry cluster and the availability of financial sources promotes building of networks for the innovative development of enterprises and regions.

Aktywność innowacyjna a wielkość przedsiębiorstw w systemie przemysłowym małopolski

The main objective of the study is to look for the impact of size classes of the companies on the innovative activity of regional industrial system. The study was conducted in the years 2008-2010 on a group of 500 companies in Małopolskie Voivodeship. Calculations were made using the method of logit modeling (probability theory). This method turned out to be an effective research tool for larger but static tests in which the dependent variable is qualitative. The results of the study show that the size of enterprises determines their innovative activity in this particular region. This relationship is, however, diverse. According to the evolutionary school the situation seems to vary depending on the level of economic development of a studied region.

Microenterprises account for over 95% of the total population of businesses in Poland, employing over 1/3 of all workers, but their economic characteristics (revenues, capital expenditures and added value) indicate their significant competitive disadvantages, mainly related to the limited access to capital and know-how. Due to the positive impact of the microenterprises on economic development and employment, support for the sector is one of the priorities of the EU. The aim of this paper is the analysis of the development of microenterprises in Poland in the years 2007-2011 and quantitative summary of the effects of EU support.

Diagnoza poziomu innowacyjności polskiej gospodarki

For the European Union countries the way to reach knowledge-based economy is conditioned by an increase in innovation in their economies. Innovation is the main carriers of competitiveness and is essential for economic growth and wealth creation in the long term. Purely market-based incentives are often too weak to reach the optimal level of management commitment to innovation resources, hence public intervention is needed, e.g. including more funding for R&D, the implementation of new solutions, building new and improving the functioning of existing institutions that affect the innovation economy. This article aims to answer the question, what is the current level of innovativeness of the Polish economy, and how Poland in this respect can be compared to the EU economies.

Wynagrodzenia dyrektorów wykonawczych rady dyrektorów największych amerykańskich banków przed i po kryzysie finansowym

The publication of the remuneration of banks managers is a widely discussed subject in Europe. In the United States there has been a single system of publishing the data on the remuneration of key managers of public companies for many years. Transparency of remuneration allows to make broad assessments of the level and structure of remuneration, as well as their validity in a calendar year. The author of the article noticed that considering the crisis in terms of the dimension of decline in the total remuneration of executive directors, it took place only in 2009. In 2004-2008 and 2010-2011 key people in the largest U.S. banks were very well rewarded. Trying to link the validity of the remuneration with the financial result and the average level of profitability of assets it has been shown that only a few banks has a relatively high correlation between the two variables.

Analiza zróżnicowania przestrzennego absorpcji funduszy unii europejskiej przez samorządy terytorialne w Polsce

The aim of the paper is (1) to analyze spatial differences in the absorption of EU funds by the regional and local governments in Poland between 2004 and 2012 and (2) to determine the level of accessibility to the cohesion policy financial means allocated for these¶beneficiaries. Within the framework of the research the geographic potential model was used which allowed taking into account the spatial impact of investments co-financed by EU funds. As a result of analysis it was found that relative accessibility to EU funds was significantly higher in eastern Poland in relation to the central and western regions. There were also noticed differences in accessibility among surrounding areas of major Polish cities.

Analiza współczynników efektywności uczelni publicznych

The aim of this study is to measure the relationship between the efficiency coefficients of public universities subordinate to the supervision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and investigated hallmarks of selected universities. The time range of research covered the years 2001-2010. The research in 2001-2002 included 57 universities in 59 university years 2003-2008 and 2009-2010, 58 universities. The universities which investigated the effectiveness ratios were calculated using the method of DEA and SFA method. The highest multiple correlation coefficient was observed for the measured efficiency ratios SFA model 2 TOTAL STUDENTS (SO_SFA_M2). The highest rank correlation coefficient was observed for the measured efficiency depending on the model 2 SFA RESEARCH − TEACHING (“BAD_DYD_SFA_M2”) and the number of students. The highest correlation coefficients were characterized by curvilinear relationship between the number of students and the measured efficiency ratios SFA model 2 TOTAL STUDENTS (“SO_SFA_M2”). The analysis of the parabolic and hyperbolic regression models show that big universities are most likely to achieve the highest rates of efficiency.

Processes connected with globalization and regional integration create new challenges for the border regions. This change in the perception of the border regions should indicate that these regions can be competitive. Strategic planning within the regions is the result of competition between regions. The paper presents priorities of strategy for the development of Pomerania Euroregion in the years 2014-2020, which have to contribute to building and strengthening its competitiveness. The priority actions, included in the new strategy focus round such areas as: education, tourism, public services, e economic centres, as well as building of civil society.

Polityczne i strukturalne czynniki wpływające na przemiany w rozmieszczeniu produkcji trzody chlewnej w krajach Unii Europejskiej

The article analyzes the changes in the distribution of pig production in the European Union in the years 2003-2010. Particular attention was paid to the economic and political causes of the observed trends. The results prove that the market competition, as well as the obligation to comply with EU standards have contributed to the concentration phenomena in the sector. Consequently, small-scale production has not been justified from the microeconomic point of view. Moreover, the results show that the increase in capital intensity of production has contributed to changes in the geographical allocation of production. In recent years, the production tends to move to the countries where capital resources are in excess in relation to the resources of land and work. These are mainly the UE-15 countries.

Potencjał innowacyjny polskich parlamentarzystów

This article presents the methodology and results research of the innovation potential of members of Polish parliament. Starting from the presentation of the problem and its environment, through identifying the assumptions and methods of research, the author went on to present the results of research conducted on a sample of 78 parliamentarians. In the article the author used his own definition of innovation potential and exploited the original questionnaire consisting of three components of knowledge, skills and personality. The study showed these factors influencing innovation, which members of Polish parliament assess highly and those which rating is low.

Determinanty niezależności komitetu wynagrodzeń w bankach w Polsce

A view that independence of compensation committee is important to promote both shareholders as well as other stakeholder interests of a bank has been reflected in the regulation of many countries recently after the crisis of 2007-2009. The aim of the paper is to examine the determinants of the compensation committee independence in banks in Poland. Empirical results show that independence of compensation committee depends on the shareholder structure. The larger block of shares concentrated in the hands of the majority shareholder, the smaller the proportion of independent board members in the banks’ compensation committee. The share of independent board members in the committee increases with the increasing stake possessed by the private pension funds and with the size of the committee.

Nowe zjawiska we wspólnej polityce rolnej Unii Europejskiej w warunkach perspektywy budżetowej na lata 2014-2020

The main aim the article is the presentation of new phenomena in the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union in the conditions of a budgetary perspective for 2014-2020. Specific objectives included new challenges for the CAP, an indication of new objectives of this policy and to draw attention to important issues of food security in the CAP reform. For the joint strategic framework of the CAP there should be both the development of the market in agricultural and rural development, as well as the use of EU structural funds, which have to be more focused on the results so that more transparent dependent rules improve their application. In addition, one of the most important elements of the future reform of the Common Agricultural Policy in the European Union should be the issue of food security.

Aktywność społeczna i ekonomiczna stowarzyszeń i fundacji – wybrane zagadnienia na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań

In 2010, “Study of the potential entities of the social economy” was conducted as part of the project implementation of Centre for Initiatives Support of the Social Economy. The results presented in the paper concern only parts of obtained replies received from respondents. Determining development opportunities of entities acting in social economy was the aim of the research, and obtained results were supposed to answer the questions associated with the area and nature of the actions stipulated in the articles of associations run by organizations and chances and threats of social economy development. Questionnaire forms were chosen which were answered by associations and foundations 229 associations and 26 foundations took part in the research. In the analysed area associations and foundations are the most numerous group of the public benefit organizations.

The condition of a company is affected by both external and internal factors that largely determine its survival. Their importance is particularly important in times of the economic crisis. Audit can be used for the identification and assessment of internal factors. Its tasks include verifying the risks associated with the functioning of the company and to propose alternative solutions to reduce the identified significant risks. The aim of the paper is to present the nature and importance of audit, as well as an indication of the proposed guidelines of changes in its functioning and using it as part of improvement of activities of enterprises representing contemporary Polish market economy.

RENEWABLE ENERGY – A NEW DIRECTION IN THE EUROPEAN ENERGY MARKET EVOLUTION

Nowadays, renewable energy represents one of the most debated subjects on the global energy market. The global warming and the constraints of the traditional energy resources led to the reorientation of countries in exploiting alternative resources. This paper offers a presentation of the main sources of renewable energy present worldwide and the way these can be exploited. Also, the paper analyses the main policies and taxes put in practice by the EU members to support the development of renewable sector, given the 2012/27/EU Directive that establishes several targets that need to be achieved on the market by 2020. Finally, the evolution of the main renewable energy market indicators is being reviewed, showing that considerable progress has been made in the last few years.

Raportowanie danych w obszarach środowiskowym i społecznym w publicznych spółkach sektora energetycznego

According to law regulations environment and social data can be presented in the Report of the Management Board on operations. The analysis of this report in chosen Polish public companies in energy sector confirms that the reporting level of given issues is different among companies. Some companies prepared the separate part concerning social responsibility but presented activities were not always connected with a company’s strategy given companies did not inform about additional CSR reports. Moreover technical elements of the reports make it impossible to use the search tools. Due to the varied report structure it limits the utility of this reports as the source of nonfinancial information.
