Acculturation Process and Ethnic Identity of Immigrants in Germany

In the present study, we discuss psychological acculturation, by which we mean the internal processes of change that immigrants experience when they come into direct contact with members of the host culture. The model we present builds on research in the areas of social and ethnic identity. Each of these perspectives is discussed in accordance with its relevance to the acculturative processes operating in immigrants. We understand ethnic identity as a dynamic state, that is determined by three components: (1) by the degree of inclusion in the group of one’s cultural origin; (2) the tendency to assimilate to the ethnic group of origin; and (3) the complementary tendency to differentiate from one’s own ethnic group. Social identity conveys belonging of the individual to different social categories and the value as well as emotional significance of this membership. We have sought to explain how the processes of social categorization, inand out-group identification and social comparison predetermine the direction of the acculturation process and hence the intercultural interaction and wellbeing of the youth from immigrant backgrounds in Germany. Results indicated that immigrants who have more identified themselves with dominant society have expressed the strong preference to integration strategies. The immigrants that had a high degree of ethnic identification have expressed the low preference to the integration as well to marginalization and assimilation. In its turn, the powerful feeling of belonging to an ethnic group and attitude towards the group promotes immigrants segregation choice.

The Conceptual Understanding of the Category „Psychological Health”

This paper is dedicated to the study of the genesis of the “mental health” and “psychological health” concepts, finding identifying features and differences of these concepts. In the framework of the “health psychology” scientific field, the psychological determinants of health, methods and ways of its preservation, improvement and development were considered. In the process of theoretical research of the psychological wellbeing concepts, basic principles in the analysis of socio-psychological health were defined. The paper affirms that the psychological health is a dynamic set of a person’s mental properties, which ensure harmony between the needs of the individual and the society, which is one of the basic conditions for successful self-realisation. It also states that it is the coherence of a person’s motives, objectives, and values with the requirements of his/her environmental and his/her own internal abilities that is the main condition and manifestation of psychological health.

Психологическо консултиране в дискурса на критичната психология

This paper is an attempt for a comparative analysis of the views of critical psychology for some shortcomings of clinical psychology and the basic principles of psychological counseling. Baseline is the large degree of overlap between the three activities clinical psychology, counseling and psychotherapy. This allows a certain convention to assume that what critical psychology makes as a criticism of the clinical concerns also counseling and psychotherapy. In this respect, in comparison to the consultation placed are such psychological aspects of clinical activity as the dominance of the medical model, the understanding of mental disorders in the context of social power and influence, consideration of ethnic, cultural and social realities in the assessment of the client side values psychological effects. The conclusion drawn is that psychological counseling methodologically and practically reaches some of the views of critical psychology.

In a pandemic, the child-parent relationship is facing new challenges. Social isolation affects people differently, but a sustainable internal psychological resource allows the individual to get out of the critical period with as little damage as possible. Healthy emotionality is a basic prerequisite for the formation and development of emotional intelligence. The identification of the emotion, the control over the impulse and its expression in a socially acceptable way by the parent - all this is inextricably linked with the process of upbringing in the family and marks the nature of the relationship between parents and children. The study focuses on the study of the emotional style of the modern parent in the context of his interaction with the children in the family. The emotional style questionnaire used by a team from the University of Wisconsin-Madison was used. The survey was conducted among parents of children and students from 3 to 18 years. Conclusions were made regarding the specifics of the emotional style of the parents in the context of the established state of emergency and in connection with pedagogical activities aimed at creating conditions for increasing the emotional intelligence of the respondents with the support of the school.

УКРАЇНСЬКИЙ НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БІОГРАФІЧНИЙ АРХІВ ЯК ІНСТРУМЕНТ І МАТЕРІАЛ В ЕТНОПСИХОЛОГІЧНОМУ ДОСЛІДЖЕННІ

The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the possibilities of using the electronic "Ukrainian National Biographical Archive" (UNBA) in the field of humanitarian knowledge based on a specific applied historical and psychological study. The research methodology is a combination of general scientific methods of analysis of theoretical material and statistical and comparative methods of analysis of specific empirical data, their systematisation and generalisation. The scientific novelty of the research is characterised by the use of information technologies, large volumes of data, and methods of statistical processing in the traditionally humanitarian field of research, which is characterised by a predominantly descriptive approach. Conclusions. On the example of the proposed study, an approach is presented that will allow to significantly expand the possibilities of both specific biographical investigations and studies of socio-historical, ethnological, and historical-psychological directions. Large-scale volumes and detailed structuring of the biographical archive (UNBA) according to its thematic, chronological, and gender distribution allows presenting the system itself as the core of the scientific activity of the virtual historical and biographical laboratory. Analogues of this approach do not exist in Ukraine today due to the uniqueness of the biographical archive (UNBA) itself, which combines the widest possible coverage of national biographical material with its detailed structuring. As a perspective of further research in the presented direction, we see the study of the dynamics of changing the archetypal features of the generalised image of Ukrainians in the temporal perspective. This includes answers to the question: how were the spheres of social activity of men and women correlated in different periods, the scaling of which is possible from centuries to one generation, i.e. 20-30 years? How statistically significant are these changes? We consider another interesting direction to be the identification of archetypal characteristics of Ukrainians depending on the places of social activity, birth, etc. – the so-called geographical rubrics.

Mental and Behavioural Disorders as a Result of Using Alcohol and Psychoactive Substances

The use of alcohol and psychoactive substances manifests itself in the rapid destruction of behavioral mechanisms. Dependence on these substances suppresses a person’s behavioral and personal traits. The purpose of the academic paper is to determine the specifics of mental and behavioral disorders that may arise and develop as a result of a person’s use of alcohol and psychoactive substances, to establish tendencies in studying this issue in scientific circles, and to clarify certain practical aspects of this problem. In the course of the research, an analytical and bibliographic method was used to study the scientific literature on mental and behavioral disorders that occur as a result of using alcohol and psychoactive substances. Induction, deduction, analysis, synthesis of information, system-structural, comparative, logical-linguistic methods, abstraction, and idealization were applied to study and process data. At the same time, a questionnaire in online mode was conducted by the research authors for the practical clarification of particular aspects of mental and behavioral disorders due to using psychoactive substances and alcohol. Based on the research results, the principal and most important theoretical aspects of problems related to mental and behavioral disorders that may arise and develop as a result of a person’s use of alcohol and psychoactive substances are identified. Along with this, a standpoint of scientists-teachers of medical specialties of higher educational institutions and narcologists was studied regarding the key practical aspects of the issue outlined.

SOCIALIZATION FEATURES OF ADOLESCENTS PREDISPOSED TO DEPRESSIVE STATES

The article address on the analysis and study of the relationship between socialization and depression in adolescence. The article presents the theoretical and practical parts of the research work. The first part considers theoretical approaches to the problem of adolescents’ socialization. The relationship between the problem of socialization and the depressed mood of adolescents is described. The practical part of the paper describes an empirical study of the relationship between adolescent depression and socialization. To provide information on these phenomena we had chosen a questionnaire "Depriscope" specially created for depression measurement, the method of Q - sorting according to V. Stephenson, to assess the social situation and the Taylor Anxiety Rating Scale.In the sample studied there were involved students of the 8th, 9th and 10th grades who participated in the research for several years, that allows to compare the correspondence with the previous results and identify in the development of the level depressive moods.It shows the understanding of the depression impact on adolescent social relationships, peer behaviour, self-esteem and self-perception. It determines the impact of communication on the negative states development and predicts possible consequences on the adolescent personality.Keywords: adolescence; depression; socialization; anxiety; crisis; depressed mood; group;behaviour; social ties; communication.

Fashion as a contemporary socio-cultural phenomenon is not only a problem related to clothing trends but also one related to the social behaviors of consumers and producers. Thus, the psychology of the fashion consumer is one of the central elements on which the evolution of fashion towards one direction or another is based, and at the same time it is one of the main concerns of designers, stylists, fashion journalists and marketing specialists. On the one hand, they analyze the different needs and typologies of fashion consumers, and on the other hand, they try to identify the necessary ideas to determine their interest in consumer goods and new trends. Along with the establishment of the main identity features that lead to the formation of the clothing identity, respectively the main features that the individual will have in the role of fashion consumer, relating the image to the individual, clothing is defined in accordance with all the components of the self, including self-awareness that stands out as the main influencing factor of the clothing image.
