Praca łączy w sobie wysokie walory merytoryczne dobrej książki naukowej z przystępnością formy i lekkością pióra książki popularnej. Co więcej, zawiera jasne i cenne wskazówki dotyczące postępowania. To połączenie wiedzy, mądrości i dobrego stylu czyni z niej pozycję ze wszech miar wartą polecenia. /// Z recenzji prof. dr. hab. Piotra K. Olesia

Autorka przedstawia problemy związane z dojrzewaniem dziewcząt i chłopców niepełnosprawnych intelektualnie. Żaneta Stelter obala także mity dotyczące zachowania niepełnosprawnych, m.in. mit „wiecznego dziecka” i mit „bezczynności”.

Autor majstrovsky využíva vedomú a silnú reflexivitu na všetky aspekty a fázy svojho skúmania. Zároveň poskytuje kultivovaný a znalosťami podložený ponor do prežívania rodovo nebinárneho človeka, prezentovaný a prítomný v celom texte. (prof. PhDr. Viera Bačová, DrSc) Kniha zaujímavým spôsobom prepojuje tri dimenzie situovanosti autora (vedca, aktivistu a človeka v procese tranzície). Táto špecifická situovanosť a pozicionalita je zároveň systematicky a citlivo reflektovaná v celom procese výskumu (interakcie so skúmanými). Preto sa domnievam, že táto kniha má aj vzdelávací rozmer - môže slúžiť ako metodologická učebnica autoetnografie pre odbory, ako sú sociálna antropológia či sociológia. (Mgr. Petra Ezzeddine, PhD)

In the course of last five years, a team of psychologists from the Institute for Children, Youth and Family Research at the Faculty of Social Studies has observed a sample of over thousand people born in 1990-1994. If you are interested how these young adults think about themselves and about the world, where and with whom they live and what relations they have, you may find the answers here. The book is thematically complex and offers a probe into novel social-psychological phenomena, such as the identity of young Vietnamese adults in Czechia or the phenomenon of “friendship with benefits”.

The monograph summarizes the main outputs of the research project “Health-promoting and Health-threatening Behavior: Determinants, Models, and Consequences”. It integrates five studies divided into individual chapters on the issue of health-related behavior and its relation to personality, constructs of optimism and pessimism, hope, ontogeny, and neuropsychological phenomena. The presented conclusions contribute not only to a deeper theoretical understanding of the examined relations, but also to practical support of readers’ self-regulation mechanisms, which consequently help them to take better care of their own health. The publication is intended for the professional public, thematically addresses primarily professionals and students in psychology, health, education and other social sciences, which deal with issues closely related to human health problems.

Seria: Studia Philosophica Silesiensia (3), ISSN 2720-1120 The book deals with the assumptions, practices and challenges facing the new field of practice called “philosophical coaching”. The author proposes a definition of philosophical coaching as ethically and metaphysically engaged coaching, which distinguishes it from all other varieties of coaching, as well as from most psychotherapy approaches, as it is not afraid of metaphysical inquiries and is also ethically committed. From living philosophy, such as was cultivated in Greek and Roman antiquity, and — at the same time — in India and China, it inherited the courage to ask fundamental questions about the meaning of life, human finitude, our place in the cosmos, and the source of good life.

The publication Dynamics of Psychic Processes and Artwork reflects the opinions of four authors who analyze the area of human psychology in their theoretical texts. The combination of the content of the publication is art therapy itself. Hana Stehlíková Babyrádová deals with the role of catharsis in artistic expression or inner cleansing of the soul. The text further reflects the author's experience with arteterapeutical creation. Pavel Šafář focused on the approach of archetypal arteterapeutic approaches. Author Jana Ovčáčková explains the importance of play in certain therapeutic methods. The text of Julie Zorkovská, compared with previous authors, refers to the importance of rituals, which is in close connection with the psychological illness.

Living in today’s rushed time full of various changes increases the demands on the individual’s ability to adapt to these changes. Career adaptability plays an important role in coping with changing demands in the field of work. What is career adaptability? Why is it important, and what does it affect? The answers to these questions and many others are provided in the monograph, entitled “Career adaptability: Its Forms, Changes, Contexts, and Roles in the Lives of Young Adults Undergoing Upper-Secondary Vocational Education,” which is the first publication written on this topic in the Czech language. In the book, a team of authors presents the construct of career adaptability and the results of unique research carried out in the Czech Republic. In the first part, the reader may find an analytical overview of various concepts of career adaptability and related concepts. The central part of the publication is devoted to the results of quantitatively conducted longitudinal research, which aimed to identify career adaptability and its relationships to several demographic, school, relational, and personality variables in the case of students and later graduates of upper-secondary vocational education—those who are in the crucial stages of their career construction. Many empirical findings concentrated in this book are beneficial not only for the career counseling theories and research on career adaptability but also for vocational education or career counseling practitioners.

The book presents developmental outcomes from an EU Erasmus+ project involving eight partner universities in seven countries in Europe. Its focus is the development of mathematics teaching and learning at university level to enhance the learning of mathematics by university students. Its theoretical focus is inquiry-based teaching and learning. It bases all activity on a three-layer model of inquiry: (1) Inquiry in mathematics and in the learning of mathematics in lecture, tutorial, seminar or workshop, involving students and teachers; (2) Inquiry in mathematics teaching involving teachers exploring and developing their own practices in teaching mathematics; (3) Inquiry as a research process, analysing data from layers (1) and (2) to advance knowledge inthe field. As required by the Erasmus+ programme, it defines Intellectual Outputs (IOs) that will develop in the project. PLATINUM has six IOs: The Inquiry-based developmental model; Inquiry communities in mathematics learning and teaching; Design of mathematics tasks and teaching units; Inquiry-based professional development activity; Modelling as an inquiry process; Evalutation of inquiry activity with students. The project has developed Inquiry Communities, in each of the partner groups, in which mathematicians and educators work together in supportive collegial ways to promote inquiry processes in mathematics learning and teaching. Through involving students in inquiry activities, PLATINUM aims to encourage students` own in-depth engagement with mathematics, so that they develop conceptual understandings which go beyond memorisation and the use of procedures. Indeed the eight partners together have formed an inquiry community, working together to achieve PLATINUM goals within the specific environments of their own institutions and cultures. Together we learn from what we are able to achieve with respect to both common goals and diverse environments, bringing a richness of experience and learning to this important area of education. Inquiry communities enable participants to address the tensions and issues that emerge in developmental processes and to recognise the critical nature of the developmental process. Through engaging in inquiry-based development, partners are enabled and motivated to design activities for their peers, and for newcomers to university teaching of mathematics, to encourage their participation in new forms of teaching, design of teaching, and activities for students. Such professional development design is an important outcome of PLATINUM. One important area of inquiry-based activity is that of “modelling” in mathematics. Partners have worked together across the project to investigate the nature of modelling activities and their use with students. Overall, the project evaluates its activity in these various parts to gain insights to the sucess of inquiry based teaching, learning and development as well as the issues and tensions that are faced in putting into practice its aims and goals.

Communication Studies is an interdisciplinary field, as it touches on many fields. Communication studies, which cover a wide area inculding sociology, psychology, text analysis, women's studies, cultural studies, politics, law, cinema as other scientific fields, have evolved into a completely different dimension with the new media. In this digital society where the borders have disappeared, the field of communication studies has expanded and brought some problems with it. It has brought many innovations in terms of new media features and reinforced the power of the media. By adding technical power to synchronous and asynchronous communication, it has both facilitated and cheapened global communication. This has contributed to the production of communicative content for people of all ages in the new media environment. This has created a gigantic virtual information cloud. While new media technologies have massively changed the use of media technologies, they have also come a long way in analyzing the data they collect. Data analysis and analysis tools are more advanced than ever before in human history and show signs of further development. Human beings aim to artificially develop an intelligence that they can extract from themselves numerically, perhaps one in a billion. He finds it more beneficial to develop an artificial intelligence that does not forget what he has learned instead of a person who is enthusiastic of learning. It aims to use algorithms that learn all the information in the information cloud with machine learning in a very short time to answer questions that have not been answered before. These technologies have started to give their first mass products today. Softwares like ChatGPT offer society a not so new, but more practical communication environment. The algorithm, which analyzes the information cloud, easily presents the texts suitable for instant needs to the user. However, there is a point that should not be forgotten. The issue of analyzing existing content and creating a new content makes people question what is new in a philosophical sense. For example, when the Dadaism movement emerged, it had a brand new discourse by presenting a critique of the existing. Dadaism has written its name in history with golden letters. Will an algorithmic discourse be able to achieve this? Is this creativity unique to humans? Is it in the hands of artificial intelligence to say something new? Time will tell for these. This study, including questions about new media technologies, reflects this interdisciplinary feature of communication studies and aims to contribute to communication studies in this respect.

Today, the importance of organizations is increasing day by day. The multiple functions and effects of national and international organizations necessitate new studies/research in the field of organizational culture and organizational behavior. Our primary goal has been to introduce the target audience we aim to address in our book to these new concepts and to prepare the ground for new research to be done. Our book, which aims to provide information to researchers, academicians, decision makers, practitioners, students who are interested in concepts and research in the field of organizational behavior, and to contribute to the national literature, consists of 21 chapters contributed by 28 authors. As can be understood from the subject distribution of the first book of our series, these studies will fill a very important gap in the field of organizational behavior and claim to be a source of new studies. We have completed our book work in a very difficult, troubled and stressful process due to the earthquakes affecting eleven provinces centered in Kahramanmaraş, which is called the disaster of the century in our country. It is admirable that our chapter authors, who were directly affected by these earthquakes, contributed to our book under difficult conditions. For this reason, first of all, I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to all our valuable and expert chapter authors who contributed and supported each other with intense labor, devotion, patience and patience in order to produce this work. In addition, I would like to express my endless thanks and respect to my esteemed teacher Prof. Dr. Mustafa TAŞLIYAN, who honored us by showing us the courtesy of writing a presentation to the book, who has always enlightened my path with his knowledge and experience and who has always been a role model for me, to Özgür Publishing House and its employees who worked meticulously in the preparation of the book for publication, to my family, my esteemed teachers, my friends and you, my esteemed readers, who have supported me in the process of writing the book and have helped me come to this day.

The book Video Games as a Medium of Communication. Modes and Dimensions of Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Communication among Gamers presents the current findings from research and scientific analysis concerning video games as a medium of communication. Video games allow gamers to communicate with themselves, as well as with other players and users of cyberspace. The issues addressed in the book show the complexity of the subject matter, point to interdependencies and also constitute a valuable source of knowledge in the cognitive, theoretical and practical spheres. What makes this publication extremely valuable is the way theoretical reconstructions are presented, as well as how the author indicates pedagogical implications for educational practice in terms of using video games and their specific language in education, also presenting them in various ways. Although communication between gamers is based on the same principles as communication between other users of cyberspace, it sometimes requires specific communicative competences, both verbal and non-verbal, due to the diversity and specificity of video games. The lack of such competences may interfere in satisfying needs important for the gamer: being competent, efficient, creative, transgressive, able to carry out the activities determined by the game independently but also together with other members of the group (guild, clan, discussion forum bringing players together). Significant elements are not only the reception and transmission of messages but also the particular aspect of intrapersonal communication of importance to each gamer, which, thanks to the internalization of messages, enables individuals to develop self-reflection and inner self-control.

Self-regulation, is one of the key human abilities. At its core are beliefs about whether people perceive themselves as autonomous and competent beings, whether they take responsibility for their behavior, what goals they choose, how they achieve them, how they plan and organize their activities, how they make decisions, and what emotions they experience in doing so. This book provides a perspective on self-regulation as a protective factor for risk behaviors in adolescence. The issue of risk behavior in adolescents is still an open and lively topic in terms of the changing dominance of its forms, which reflect the evolution of society. Our research aims to contribute to the understanding of the functioning of selected phenomena. We believe that the book will bring a closer understanding of the issue and valuable information not only for practitioners, prevention methodologists, psychologists, but also for teachers and parents who are in daily contact with adolescents.
