For the two last decades cultural social sciences have been facing critical methodological transformation. The widespread tendency in qualitative research to mingling and synthesizing differing interpretive paradigms has been recently confronted with a venture to integration of science and the humanities. This current is not a plain revitalization of historical tendency to submit interpretive methods to scientific explanation of social life, but is seeking a new theoretical base to establish a balance between hermeneutic and causal analysis. This essay discusses different theoretical concepts of the relationship between hermeneutic interpretation and causal explanation. It introduces a concept of “maximal interpretation” devised inside the strong program of cultural sociology as a procedure of unified interpretive-causal analysis of historical events, and analyzes this innovation with theoretical lenses of grid-group theory.

Ekonomika Kaip Prakseologija: Filosofiniai „Austrų Ekonominės Mokyklos“ Pagrindai

The so-called Austrian school of economics has developed a distinctive approach to the study of society. Based on the principles of praxeology the approach contrasts sharply with the prevalent fashion of extending the methods of natural sciences to social inquiry. Its emphasis is on the distinctiveness of action explanations vis-à-vis causal explanations of events. However, the praxeological approach is also highly critical of the historicist and relativist reaction to the contentions of scientism. By positing a priori constraints on teleological explanations the praxeological approach is utterly hostile to the claims of historicism and relativism. As a general theory of human action praxeology has been used both as an explanatory tool in economic and social research and as a weapon for fighting facile social engineering. One weakness of the approach is its commitment to the fact/value dichotomy that it shares with most currents of modern social philosophy.

PREGLED I KRITIKA HERBERT SPENCEROVE TEORIJE ETIČKOG EVOLUCIONIZMA PO ISLAMU

Evolutionism thinkers in the discussion of the origin of creating humans believe that human societies in the context of time will be progressive and developed. Herbert Spencer, by the extension of evolutionary theory in biology to areas of society and ethics, believed in gradual progress of life from simple forms to complex forms. He has considered the distinction between developed and semi-developed behavior as the basis for the distinction between absolute ethic and relative ethic and accepted the benefit in describing the good and bad ethic, and considered joy and benefits the goal of ethic. Quranic verses and hadiths do not accept the evolution of humans and their division from other creatures. In addition, the hypothesis of evolution even in biology has remained at the level of hypothesis and is not proven, and critics and opponents of thinkers of biology look at it with skepticism and challenges. As a result, according to the fact that this theory is not proven in the field of biology cannot validate its generalization in the field of ethics and community. In particular, such an extension requires relativeness of ethic that is underlying numerous problems.

The phenomenon of social work, which attracts numerous groups of volunteers from the NGO sector, activists of humanitarian organizations, local leaders, missionaries of all religious communities, and above all professionally prepared persons, is an accompanying element of the human being. However, in terms of a profession, we can talk about it from 1900 when Mary Richmond introduced the term social worker. In all the years that have passed since that event, a lot happened, but the most characteristic of them was, and still exists, the struggle for scientific independence of social work, the efforts for state recognition as a profession, the development of a special methodical opus, social management, ethical compatibility and appropriate education.

During the 19th century it was Valtazar Bogišić who has accomplished some pioneering work in the field of legal sociology. This was to some extent openly acknowledged by Eugen Ehrlich in his Principles of the Sociology of Law. The study brings an overview of the academic and intellectual development of Bogišić’s thought (1834–1908). Initially a child of European Romantic era, who had preferred to point out Hegel’s ideas with some distinguished lines from the German poetry, in his mature studies Bogišić has turned to an enemy of speculation and generalization.

A good indicator of the foundation and development of any science, among other things, is the interest in its methodological problems. Although extremely useful, the study of methodology does not stop at an insight into the achieved research practice standard, evident above all in research studies dedicated to various problems in which the applied scientific procedure is presented. Of particular importance is the systematization and the presentation of the outcome of studying certain methodological issues resulting from the generalization of results obtained during the consideration and application of the methods of a particular science, regardless of whether it is an analysis of general logical-epistemological problems, a study of method modifications created by the changes in a particular paradigm and its individual theoretical concretizations, or a problem in developing certain types of research designs, the application of certain methods and techniques for collecting and analyzing empirical material, etc.

Academician Radomir Lukić is the forerunner of sociological consideration of the globalization phenomenon, arguing in his textbook that the unification of mankind is one of the ’main changes’ in contemporary society. Lukić did it much earlier than the term “globalization” was coined. The significant contribution to Serbian sociological thought on globalization was given by a number of our contemporary sociologists who have studied minutely this process (D. Ž. Marković, Lj. Mitrović, R. Smiljković, М. Pečujlić, Z. Vidojević and other authors). Vladimir Vuletić was the first who defended PhD thesis in the field of the sociological consideration of globalization at the University of Belgrade.

Meno kūrinys - sociologinės analizės objektas P. Bourdieu meno sociologijoje

The article deals with theoretical and methodological principles of the analysis of art in the theory of the most influential French sociologist, Pierre Bourdieu. The most important obstacle in the science of works of art is the opposition between internal and external analysis. Bourdieu avoids this opposition and analyses the processes of art production, mediation and reception. An analysis of works of art presupposes three operations, which are linked as three levels of social reality. Firstly, the analysis of the position of the artistic field within the field of power, and its evolution in time. Second, a historian has to analyse the internal structure of the artistic field, a universe obeying its own laws of functioning and transformation, a structure of objective relations between positions occupied by individuals and groups. And finally, an analysis involves the genesis of habitus of the occupants of these positions.
