The main objective of the study is to establish the status of Bulgarian education by outlining the directions for development in school and higher education to achieve quality knowledge based education. The negative consequences of the problems in Bulgarian education are mainly expressed in the unsatisfactory results of the functioning of the complex and contradictory legislative basis which does not guarantee a sufficiently high quality of the education of the children and the young people from the pre-school to the higher education. School education should provide the education and education of the pupils in accordance with their individual abilities and expectations for successful realization in the society, while the higher education should be qualified. Bulgarian education should be a long-term national priority in the training of people of different ages, focusing on the relationship between pre-school and school education – higher education – labor market.Education is one of the areas in public life that is the most difficult to reform, despite its super-activity and futuristic nature. Опит за обосноваване на професиограма на началния учител (I – IV клас)

The article presents the idea of justification of a set of professional requirements for the primary-school teacher. The performed attempt to justify a set of professional requirements for the primary-school teacher in the I – IV grade is aimed at regulating the specific requirements for the selection of candidates for the specialty “Primary School Pedagogy”, as well as their academic preparation and subsequent professional realization. A four-component model of a professional set of requirements for the primary-school teacher is presented and justified, which includes a description of specific requirements for the personality, theoretical training and the professional achievements of the practitioners. The professional set of requirements for the I – IV grade teacher is based on the idea of interdependence between the components: a medicogramme, a psychogramme, a sociogramme, requirements for the primary-school teacher‘s professional training.

Самоценност на свободната детска игра и последствията от нейната педагогическа имитация

The study proves the self-esteem of the free game of children by offering a theoretical analysis and introducing an author’s assessment of its manifestation in the basic game types. The main thesis is focused on defining the pedagogical imitation of the game, as well as analyzing the consequences of the paradoxical replacement of the free game of children with its corresponding pedagogical imitation. The focus is placed on hard to measure harms for the child together with losses for the teacher gained by missed opportunities for play-learning as an independent child activity and as a pedagogical paradigm for learning.

Влияния на училищната среда върху проявите на тревожност при ученици от общообразователни и професионални училища

The article presents data about the impact of the school environment on the anxiety of 8th and 9th grade pupils who study in secondary and vocational schools. The data shows that anxiety symptoms, provoked by the school environment, occurs most clearly in the form of reactions of nervousness and tension. The girls have anxiety symptoms in the form of stomach upset, sleeping difficulties, fatigue, breathing problems, palms sweating, nightmares, expectation of negative assessment by others. The empirical data proves that for teachers from secondary and vocational schools is necessary to stay informed about the harmful effects of anxiety symptoms on pupils` physical and mental wellbeing.

A Concept for Inclusive Physical Education Training Program for Future Pre-School and Primary-School Teachers

The adoption of new normative documents in the field of education in Bulgaria determines the inclusion of children with special educational needs in general education schools. The significant and integral role which physical education plays in the educational process poses the question of the inclusion of children with impairments in motor activity training as well. Teachers implementing it contribute greatly to its positive effects. The main features of physical education include active motor activity and the related physical workload. In order for them to be adapted successfully to the specific needs of children with different disabilities, more specialized training is required. The analysis of the curricula of the faculties of education in Bulgaria shows that future pre-school and primary school teachers who will be responsible for the physical education of children in kindergartens and primary schools respectively do not receive appropriate training in adaptive physical education. The aim of this article is to present a concept for introducing a training programme on “Motor Activity Training and Inclusive Physical Education”, intended for students of the specialty Preschool and Primary School Education at the Faculty of Education, Trakia University, Bulgaria.

Technological innovations transformed social networks in part not only from the living space but also as a part of the personal space of the contemporary.In this context, technological innovations importance raises a number of questions, especially for students about the role in the transmission of value influences in the conditions of modern consumerism and hedonism. This article presents the results from a study of the attitude of upper-school students towards hedonistically oriented values. The analyzed results represent pupils’ attitudes towards the values of “Pleasure” and “Adventure Life”, as well as the impact of social networks on the dynamics of their attitudes.

Risk Factors for Early School Leaving in Bulgaria

In the paper attention is drawn to the phenomenon of early school leaving, which is regarded through the prism of the stratification mechanisms in the field of secondary school education in Bulgaria. A special emphasis is placed on educational segregation, related to a widening of the gap between different types of Bulgarian schools. The authors present the data of an empirical study on the opinions of secondary school students in Bulgaria about the early school leaving phenomenon, attempting to highlight a number of risk determinants that trigger school failure as a consequence of certain life and educational trajectories. It is emphasized that both a profound understanding of the risk factors, associated with early school leaving, and potential remedies should be considered in the context of a much broader socio-structural framework and a horizon of sociocultural meanings, including those, related to ethnicity. The paper concludes with a description of some main tools for prevention within the socio-existential perspective.

Speech Disfluencies of Preschool-age Children Who Do and Do Not Stutter

The purpose of the present study was to determine (i) the frequency of normal disfluency (ND) and stuttered disfluency (SD) in young children who stutter (CWS) and who do not stutter (CWNS) and (ii) whether SD serves as a risk factor for stuttering in CWNS. Participants were 30 preschool-age CWS (n = 14) and CWNS (n = 16). The speech (dis)fluency of all participants was measured from 100 words selected from samples of each child’s conversation and storytelling using the Vanderbilt University (Nashville, TN, USA) Disfluency Count Sheet. Results indicated that CWS, when compared to CWNS, significantly differed in stuttered but not in non-stuttered disfluencies. Within-group analysis indicated that CWS exhibited a significant relation between total speech disfluencies and an index of stuttering severity and that a relatively few CWNS (n = 4) exhibited a percentage of total and stuttered disfluencies within the lower ends of the distribution for CWS. Findings appear to suggest that inclusion of the Vanderbilt Disfluency Count Sheet as part of a comprehensive diagnostic assessment of childhood stuttering helps fine-tune such assessment through consideration of both ND and SD in a child’s speech as well as the ratio between these measures of disfluency.

A group of students from 10v grade whose specialty is “Forestry and Hunting Enterprise” represented a STEM lesson devoted to the celebration of eminent anniversaries in our high school. Knowledge from the special subjects Dendrology, Silviculture, Soil Science was presented during the lesson. The students showed great competence in the general subjects, too: Physics, Mathematics, Computer Sciences and Information Technologies. The presentation of the subjects included some quotations from Nikolay Haytov’s works. The famous Bulgarian writer had worked as an engineer-arborist also.

Innovation in education is not a new phenomenon in Bulgarian education. In the past, innovative solutions in educational institutions have been neglected or even totally ignored by educational authorities. Nowadays, however, they are part of the state policy and are directly dependent on the area where the school is located, the ethnocultural composition of the pupils, the number of its pupils, the social status and activity of the parents, the support of the institutions and the society. In this sense, we have to pay tribute to the role of the pedagogical specialist and place it at the epicenter of innovative solutions in the educational environment. Moreover, we must not forget that it is precisely the teacher who must know the needs of his students, be boundlessly motivated to experiment and show creativity, constantly enrich his experience and to do his best when immersed in practice. The presented material analyzes the results from a survey of pedagogical specialists working in two of the largest schools with Roma students in Sofia. The basis of this questionnaire is their confidence, conviction and faith in the innovativeness of their activities in the process of education and socialization of Roma students.

Students of 1st High School, provoked by the unfavorable trend of increasing obesity in children, conducted its own study on the prevalence of the problem in their school. With overweight appeared about 23% of the children. Therefore the initiators of the idea developed an appropriate set of actions to protect and restore health. The results show that for five months the monitored students decreased the consumption of white bread, fried foods and soft drinks. The number of those who consume fruits, vegetables, dairy products and fish has increased. The consumption of salt was reduced. There was an increase in consuming water also.

The program of the camp aims to reveal the potential of every child, to develop his motor skills in a friendly and safe environment, to create new friendships and develop and enrich the emotional, intellectual and social skills. Mandatory requirements for participants are zero tolerance of all forms of violence and aggression, and healthy nutrition.

In this context, the article examines the importance of music in the inclusive process, of its developmental potential; the help that various musical activities do in the process of overcoming problems in the cognitive and emotional sphere; their role in motivating the child to communicate and stimulating the adoption of values that are particularly important in inclusive school; to create the feeling of being supported and upheld in their efforts; for the successful inclusion of the child in the class and the child’s active participation in the school as well out of it.

Чуждоезикова сугестопедия в училище

The present article focuses on the long standing experimental work of suggestopedia in the area of foreign language teaching at school. It surveys the specific ways of structuring the teaching materials and teaching process for different age groups (first to seventh grade of the Bulgarian school) in compliance with the principles and methods of suggestopedia. It reveals the original character of the main application areas of school suggestopedia related to integrated language and subject teaching (grade one), accelerated formation of initial reading skills in L2 (grade two), the introduction of concert sessions and subsequent activities for children (grades two to seven), the global-artistic approach aimed at developing cultural and communicative competence of learners (grades VI – VII). The experience of the classical period tests its validity against some recent developments of ELT school suggestopedia.

Себеоценка при ученици от седми клас: влияние на его състоянията и образованието на родителите

The article presents results of a research of the influence of ego states and parental education on the self-esteem of seventh grade students. The sample includes 339 students from 13 to 15 years. The obtained results represent the dominance of the Natural Child ego-state and Nurturing Parent ego state, manifested by characteristics such as attachment, amiability, adaptability and spontaneity. The self-esteem of the students that took part in the survey is rather average, as higher education degree of the parents defines higher self-esteem in adolescents. The results show significant effect of the Adult ego-state, Natural Child and Nurturing Parent ego- states, along with the education of the father on adolescent self-esteem. The personal characteristics of spontaneity, organization, logical thinking, persistence, conscientious and productivity, along with the education level of the father, slightly but significantly increased the self-esteem of the students. The obtained results are applicable in individual and group work with students to develop their personal qualities and self-confidence, as prerequisites for improving their academic achievement, social relationships and mental well-being.
