- Summary/Abstract:In the field of the SFL teaching for polish native speakers; we face the problem of the interference that happens when diminutives are being used; because of their pragmatic interpretation that offers different solutions for Spanish and Polish native speakers. Precisely for this reason; the aim of this work will be to reveal the interpretative differences that exist in the use of particular diminutives in the interactional field; since errors in the interpretation of communicative statements could occur at the moment of interaction between a Spanish-speaking person and the Polish apprentices. Thus; having obtained the analysis of a small corpus that is based on the real communicative situations; we will make a didactic proposal in order to improve and develop the sociolinguistic and pragmatic skills when it comes to the usage of the diminutives in real communicative situations in Spanish.

- Summary/Abstract:The research from a cognitive perspective of the processes of comprehension; production and storage of lexicon; to which we can get from the analysis; among others; of creative motivational processes such as etymologization or word formation; is essential to achieve not only an adequate knowledge about the functioning of our communicative processes; but also to implement improvements in such tangible aspects as the teaching-learning of Spanish as a foreign language. The lexical competence is now; in many methodological proposals; the access route for the learning of languages. Within it; the lexical creation; where we emphasize lexical morphology and etymologization as manifestations of linguistic motivation; can become a great ally to achieve meaningful learning. An approach to the processes of integration of the new units in the lexical organization of the native can offer effective tools in the design of didactic actions that seek to produce the same effects in the acquisition of lexical competence by foreign students.

- Summary/Abstract:The aim of this article is to bring attention to the importance of raising awareness of one’s own culture (C1) in foreign language education and its significance for developing intercultural skills and cultural awareness. Introspection will be presented as an act of self-examination, self-inquiry or reflecting on self: a strategy necessary for developing an ability to understand the other and a technique that can be used within the language classroom context. The author will be looking at introspection as a metacognitive act, carried out by a learner and directed towards his/her own actions (ways of interacting and communicating) as well as his/her internal states, aimed at searching ethnocentric perspectives in the context of reflecting on intercultural communication, especially the comparing processes. Michael Byram’s Intercultural Communicative Competence model will be used as theoretical framework and it will be related to the notion of transcultural awareness in order to present arguments in favor of introspection and draw some pedagogic recommendations for its use.

- Summary/Abstract:The analysis of the relations between motivation and methodology is one of the basic pillars of the foreign languages teaching/learning process; and much of the research developed in applied linguistics during the last decades has been focused on the exploration of the most effective model. We recognize that the student´s intrinsic motivation is essential to succeed or to fail in this process; but at the same time; we have also to weight the great amount of motivation that the teacher can provide his/her students; and that the methodology he/she made use of plays a crucial role in it. Motivating students is a very complex process; but some strategies can help them to adopt more positive attitudes towards the target language. Consequently; in our paper; we examine different methods which can be used within the classroom; concluding with a series of proposals for the language teachers to adopt certain attitudes and methods to succeed in their final goal: help their students to optimize the foreign language learning process.

- Keywords:MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses); teaching methodologies; online language courses
- Summary/Abstract:Distance learning is not a new teaching methodology; however, it has only been the extraordinary ease of the Internet communications and, specifically, the MOOCs: Massive Open Online Courses, which have allowed for a truly global university level learning. Since 2011, platforms like Udacity, Coursera, edX and, later, MiriadaX and FutureLearn offered their free courses to hundreds of thousands of students all over the world. Their total availability, convenient structure, short duration and absence of any previous required qualifications, which allowed anybody to study anything, made them extremely popular. Their drawbacks are: extremely low level of completion, less than 5%; lack of personal student-teacher interaction, predominance of English as a teaching instrument and a considerable amount of “communication noise” due to the students’ heterogeneous backgrounds. MOOCs providing language courses, in this case Spanish, are an interesting teaching methodological instrument and a convenient update for the language instructors but not a stand-alone methodology for students.

The aesthetic approach, interpretation, creative attitude and critical thinking are focus in the human pain, suffering and tragedy topics. This work allows exploring multiple identities present in SSL classroom. For that, the poems Los heraldos negros, of the Peruvian Cesar Vallejo; Un carnívoro cuchillo, of the Spanish Miguel Hernandez; Un terrorista: Él observa, of the Polish Wisława Szymborska; and the painting The Scream, of the Norwegian Edvard Munch are required. - Summary/Abstract:In this paper; we make a comparative analysis of the results we have obtained about the development of the writing process among university Spanish students linked to nonlinguistic academic disciplines and polish university students who are fully familiar with subjects about Spanish language. From both diagnostic test and measurement of their written production and with some evaluation sheets; we have described the three stages which form the knowledge of written composition: planning; text development and revision. In every stage we analyze the following aspects: outline-script (planning) text development and adaptation (contextualization); spelling; accents and punctuation (revision).

- Keywords:contrastive analysis; learning strategies; didactics; Spanish language textbooks
- Summary/Abstract:Contrastive analysis constitutes an excellent strategy that accelerates the acquisition of new concepts based upon previous knowledge; and it is quite effective for both the teaching as well as for learning a foreign language. The principle objective of this study is to demonstrate how contrastive analysis continues to be pertinent and is being increasingly used as an effective learning strategy in many Spanish language textbooks. Contrastive analysis can be very beneficial for professors; students; and textbook authors. In fact; as it can be seen throughout this paper; numerous Spanish language textbooks benefit from and use the results of research in the field of contrastive linguistics and explain the most problematic grammatical concepts in function of the mother tongue of the student.

- Summary/Abstract:The present paper presents the different criteria that we must adopt to obtain a precise evaluation and qualification in academic context. Usually in current teaching methods more importance is given to oral language on writing, since it is considered more profitable from the communication point of view. However, being communicatively competent in a language also means being able to deal with texts written in that language. Texts that correspond to different situations and social contexts, and which must be mastered. On the other hand, the ELE teacher should not only teach how to understand and produce written texts, but should also evaluate and qualify them according to clear criteria. We must bear in mind that with evaluation we refer to the observation and description of the progress of a student’s learning, and with qualification we refer to the attribution a generally numerical value to the performance of a learner.
